I am an avid reader of western fantasy, science fiction and romance. I write my own stories occasionally, but also like coming with commentary and input to others - fair warning, im a grammarnazi XD

I won't say anything about the stability of updates or the story development since I did not get that far. Hence 3 stars, middle of the pack. What I will say is that world Background makes very little sense as presented and that the whole "everyone bad" vibe makes the story seem a bit meh to me. Its been done a million times with better writing and better motivations. Take the first chapter where there is every chance to characterize the western kingdoms and give them some spirit and motivation for their actions. Instead we are told, not shown, that they are willing to senselessly attack over a glowing rock, that will allow one person to get a powerup. Why would an entire kingdom move over this? What justifies the expenditure of life and resources in getting involved in what is sure to devolve into a five-way war? No explanation, just a handwave about them also grabbing some slaves and land. But if they want that, why not wait till the others are occupied before invading one of them, maybe make deals with their enemies beforehand? Its clearly about the stone and its simply not established as being worth the cost.
Sounds like those rulers were morons then. If you can't hold it, trade it away to someone who can. No matter how weak the kingdom is, it will cost the invaders something to destroy it whether that something is time or resources. As long as you ask for less than that, you can trade for something that is actually useful for the kingdom. Such as vassalage or protectorate status under the stronger kingdom or lesser shards.
But do I pay a monetary cost, do I accrue an obligation to another, does someone gain power over me, is there in any way a cost to the oxygen itself that I pay? No, not a meaningful one. I need to breathe sure. I also need to pick up the free meal someone gives me and I need to take out my wallet if I want to pay with the free money someone gave me. Those things are still considered free.
How generous of the park to allow him to build a huge haunted house facility. No doubt it has nothing to do with the increased buzz around a massive expansion of their existing facility attracting new customers. Their cost is zero, and at worst they get free advertisement until the park goes under.
The cleaver did nothing, he was saved by the dolls moving on their own.
To be honest, the 30.000 is a drop in a bucket, especially once he has paid his taxes. Its equal to selling 3000 tickets to the haunted house. The real boon is what catching a real murderer will do to his online career. That "OH MY GOD ITS REALLY, REALLY REAL????" aura will never rub off.
Ghosts care about their strong attachments, at least usually. She probably really loved him and now that she is trapped in this warped evil place, well she probably still loves him....
Time to drink some delicious water.
I mean these are haunted house employees. They get used to that kind of thing over time. To them its all in good fun.
Morticians do far more than makeup, they make the dead presentable, recognizable for the loved ones so it looks more like they are asleep and less like a corpse. That can mean extensive work when someone has been in a bad car accident or similar.
Considering the app already told him he can die during the tutorial and is speaking about him building a team of actual monsters and ghosts, I would have definitely have freaked out if I thought it was for real. Before throwing the phone at a priest or an exorcist.
Courage is mostly based on self-confidence, belief and hope. It doesn't take courage to attempt suicide. It takes fear, self-loathing and hopelessness. Its a cry for help in most cases, not a wish for death.
I see so this is set in 2030.
How did he prove you wrong? As far as I can tell from your perspective there is no cost, no hidden drawbacks. The saying is based on the premise that if something is free you are going to pay in another way. But YOU are not going to pay the costs, others are. If I give a hundred bucks to a beggar, he is getting something without remunition, aka. free. It costs me money, but he is getting it for free.
So this kind of absolute statement is disproven once you find an example of the opposite. So how much do you guys pay for oxygen? Its free in my country. I believe it is free everywhere, with no hidden costs built into our economy.
Good for you. Assuming a grade 7 monsters has upkeep proportional to its power, ut could easily serve as a way to control. Want to feed your monster that grade 6 meat it needs to live? Well here's the list of shit we need you to do for today, there'll be another the day after and the day after that.
Small-town doctors are often tied to a private practice. Meaning buildings, an office at least, and possibly expensive machines to help people/ monsters. In addition to losing their house, vehicles and everything else they owned. Only thing they would still have had is the various debts and a far from sufficient government payout.
So there was established safety bunkers, meaning monster horde attacks must be fairly common. No wonder the insurance companies won't cover for that, the risk is too high to be part of the normal insurance deal. You'd probably need a seperate insurance just for monster attacks.
