The Author Defends Himself :) Writing a review for your own book is honestly weird, so I'll just answer a few questions people might have about MOONNEIRTH LAND. If you have questions about the story, leave them in the comments! - "First of all, what is this book about?" It's a dark fantasy about a world that was once united, but was divided into the Light District and the Shadow District. The story follows a boy from the Shadow District whose life changes after he meets a girl named Nadya. What begins as a story about two people from opposite sides slowly turns into something much bigger involving gods, sacrifice, ancient secrets, disappearances, and a truth that may completely change what they believe about their world. Basically: Light vs. Shadow... except things aren't nearly as simple as everyone thinks. - "So who is the main character?" A boy from the Shadow District. And yes, he starts out pretty much as someone who is just trying to survive. He isn't some chosen hero who immediately knows what he's doing. He makes mistakes, loses people, gets hurt, and has to figure things out the hard way. Also, he doesn't even have a proper name at the beginning. - "Then why is the book called MOONNEIRTH LAND?" Good question. I'm not answering that yet. :) You'll have to read it. - "Is there romance?" Yes. But I'm not trying to make the story a romance-first fantasy. The relationship between the characters develops alongside the main mystery and the larger story. So if you're expecting the characters to fall in love after approximately three conversations... No. 😂 - "Is this just Light vs. Shadow?" At first, it might look that way. But one of the main things I wanted to explore was: What if the history everyone believes is true... isn't? The deeper the story goes, the more complicated the division between Light and Shadow becomes. - "Are there gods?" Yes. There are gods. There are temples. There are sacrifices. There are ancient legends. And there are some things that probably should have stayed buried. That's all you're getting from me. - "Is it going to get darker?" Absolutely. This is a dark fantasy, after all. The story deals with grief, sacrifice, loneliness, manipulation, death, memory, and the consequences of the choices the characters make. So... maybe don't get too attached. I'm warning you now. :) - "Will the main character become ridiculously overpowered?" Not exactly. He becomes stronger, but power in MOONNEIRTH LAND comes with consequences. Sometimes gaining power means losing something else. And some battles aren't won by simply being stronger. - "How big is the story?" Much bigger than the first chapters make it look. The story is planned around eight major arcs, with the mystery and world expanding as the characters discover more about the world they live in. Basically, I started writing a dark fantasy and accidentally created a problem for myself. - "And finally... aren't you a little biased giving your own book five stars?" Obviously. Who else am I supposed to trust? 😂 But seriously, I know the book isn't perfect. I'm still learning and improving as a writer. I just genuinely love this world, these characters, and the story I'm trying to tell. So yes... Shameless author gives his own book five stars.
