Digital Ghosts in the Machine
High above the market town of Chesterfield, beneath the shadow of its famous crooked spire, stands the Tower of Reflections. Inside rests the Great Mirror-Machine — no ordinary device, but an ancient construct of polished crystal, enchanted glass, and star-forged metal. Built centuries ago to preserve memories, moments, and the echoes of lives long gone, it was meant to hold the past safe and still.
But as time wears on, the magic begins to fray. The images no longer stay fixed. Figures move, voices whisper, and faces that should be only memories press against the glass. These are the Visual Ghosts — trapped spirits and lingering echoes, bound not by wires or code, but by fading magic. Some seek to return to the living world; others only want to be remembered and released.
When a young apprentice tending the tower accidentally unlocks deeper power, the boundary between the real world and the realm of reflections begins to dissolve. Now they must uncover the machine’s forgotten secrets, mend its failing magic, and decide: do they seal the ghosts away forever, or find a way to give them the peace they crave — before the past spills out and changes the present beyond repair.
