Kobe Coleman has no name for what he is becoming.
On their own continent, the Skyborns have built the Order over three centuries. Its Skyhunters carry out divine will and extend their dominion across the six continents of the world including Adinkrahene, land of the Blackeils, now reduced to a colony under surveillance.
The lie has a name. The Blackeils.
The only people who do not use the five senses to channel their energy, the Blackeils draw from memory their own, that of their ancestors, that of objects which have lived too long. A people who cannot lie to their own memory is a people that cannot be controlled. So five continents allied to erase them. Today, those who survive are slaves, fugitives, or hidden beneath another name.
Kobe is twenty years old. He grew up in Amnesia, raised by a taciturn bookbinder who pushed bread his way without lifting his eyes. He read in secret the books the Order burns. He dreamed of becoming a Skyhunter. He did not know that his father had spent twenty years waiting for someone to come kill him, nor that his mother was Aaliyah Coleman a woman of a lineage so powerful that an Architect had been sent personally to eliminate her.
One morning, that Architect arrives.
When Kobe flees Amnesia, he will have no father left. No home. No dream. No certainty about what he is. He will have a road heading south, a sword that speaks to him with arrogance, and a memory that is beginning to show him lives he has never lived.
