Oh no don't get me wrong, the parts where he kills are supposed to come across as villainous, he is a vampire after all. But I never intended to make him a full blown villain who kills unreasonably or without any real motive behind it. s for "isn't he just playing with his food?" kind of, but this is hard to explain. The MC can still like humans. Shane is a perfect example since the MC himself says "Alright, I kinda like this guy." Same with his mother, and with the Vatos where he reflects and feels glad he didn't kill them. With the camp he has no intention of harming anyone unless he doesn't like someone and I mean more than just mild annoyance, or things get dire. So to summarize since I feel like I'm going off track, the MC can like humans and will grow closer to some more than others, it just takes more for him to get there. The whole thing with his mother and classmates was supposed to show that he isn't some trigger happy killing machine, it's just that how he views death and everything surrounding it is a bit screwed up thanks to becoming a vampire.
Nope, normal walkers can't do anything to the MC, and it's kind of shown in chapter 4 where one is clawing at him and nothing happens.
Okay yeah people in TWD do have shit luck lol. But the reason he kept them alive is because he doesn't know if what happened to him can be done to others and revive them. And realistically compacted dirt weighs a shit ton so I don't think they are getting out anytime soon with their rotting bodies.
If he needs a closer look at someone or is observing from a really high point where the target is far away then sure, but in normal circumstances he doesn't need to. If he needs information he can just hang back much further and listen to people talk. He doesn't need to get that close thanks to his inhuman senses.
Honestly I don't even have a reason :D, it just felt plain. I didn't get any excitement when I finished the chapter, and one comment mentioned that the MC's monologue earned him a villain tag which wasn't the direction I was aiming for.
To that I'll neither confirm nor deny, let's just leave it at that.
Different people's blood tastes differently and I tried leaving hints about it in this chapter. It might be easier to pick up on if you just ignore what the MC says.
Honestly don't worry about that at all, that's basically endgame territory. The MC right now is just tier 1, essentially a newborn vampire, and there will be more about that in later chapters. By the time he could even turn someone he would already be in a completely different league.
It's not really a big weakness. He can move just fine in it as long as he covers up a bit, and even if he doesn't he's still far above human level. The real weakness is that his body is like a car and blood is fuel. Being in the sun while using his full strength and speed just burns through that fuel faster, and even that is mostly because he recently awakened.
