Now that this novel is almost at Chapter 150, yeah nah, I gotta leave a review because this hidden gem seriously deserves way more recognition. 1) First of all, PLEASE read the author note and at least the first 32 chapters before judging the novel. This is literally the author’s first book, so obviously the pacing at the start was still being adjusted. But trust me, despite its slow paced, it's very well written. 2) MC — Yeah, the MC is actually goated so far with his own flaws too. He is smart, confident, scheming, aura farming 24/7, but can also be cold or weirdly kind in his own way. And he's definitely has some crazy past life lore that the author still hiding because ain’t no way he’s this good at fighting for no reason. I’m honestly super curious about his backstory now. He's definitely not just a detective! 3) Side Characters — Easily one of the best things in this novel! There’s genuinely no annoying character so far. Even the side characters and extras are entertaining. The interactions feel fun and natural. Author still refusing to reveal who the fml is tho, but I can’t even lie, I’m rooting hard for either Calyra or Silvena. Both are REALLY well written! Also the fight scenes are crazy good so far. 4) Plot — Okay this is where people might struggle a bit. The foreshadowing and buildup in this story are insane, but sometimes the payoff takes a LONG time to happen. It’s both painful and hype at the same time because the author keeps teasing future arcs and crazy moments. But honestly, I don't mind too, bcs it really feels like the author already planned a huge part of the story beforehand, even for side arcs and minor characters. The stakes aren’t fully crazy yet, but the latest chapters definitely feel like things are about to go down soon. Anyway, that’s all I wanna say without spoiling too much. About the MC's ability, It seems I could've done a better job of explaining his ability. As for the reason he couldn't adapt is because of the difference in rank. Demons have 4 ranks where they evolve. You have the demon king, demon lord, archdemon and slave demon. In the beginning the MC, like all demons starts out as a slave. Lilith is a demon lord which is why he couldn't adapt to her charm because of the overwhelming difference in ranks. (The ranks will all be revealed later). Him not being able to adapt to her demonic charm just showed how overwhelmingly stronger she is. As for Sophia, majority of her arc takes place in the academy. The demon who killed her parents wasn't important since he was just a pawn. Her parents weren't awakeners, they were regular humans which is why they were killed easily by a low level demon. The early arc was so she could come to terms with the demon who killed her parents by taking revenge herself rather than having someone else do it for her. As for the mc's personality, he doesn't have any emotions because he's a demon. He doesn't feel anything towards his family but that doesn't mean he'll act cold and distant all the time. He has to blend in and play the part as to not get caught. Like Dexter Margon. In the novel demons are different beings from humans. Not with just how they look but with their emotions too. Plus one of the biggest reason is because of how much demons are hated. Every human hates demons, even his parents and Sophia (especially since she had her parents killed by a demon) The entire point of awakeners and heroes wad to fight against and kill demons. It's demons vs humans and all the other races. He is a demon blending in with the human population so he can kill their promising heroes which are in the academy. His goal was never to have a family. If he went against the demon king them, then he would still have to fight against humans then he would left to face both sides. Plus the fact that he has no emotions will makes it easier. As for his motivation, every demon is driven by one of the seven sins. For example there is a demon who is driven by gluttony who is force to consume raw flesh. There are demons who are driven by lust and greed. The mc is also driven by one of the seven sins which is also tied to his past. This is also revealed not too far into the story. As for the FL it's Sophia. Sophia's entire goal in lifeis to kill demon. She hates then with a passion since they took everything away from her. Yet one of the persons closest to her is secretly a demon. Combine with the fact that the mc is a demon who doesn't feel emotions. It makes you wonder how she will react if she finds out the mc is a demon. Would she turn him in or fight against her own kind to help him. Or whether he's come to develop feelings for her or if he'll always see her as a tool. I thought it would be interesting romance.

Demon girl? Do you mean Lilith. Because the original story line of the game changed he had one of most powerful person in the story show up. Of course he wouldn't be able to adapt to her. The mc is not overpowered from the start, its a progression fantasy. And as for the girl not questioning the mc, I don't think that is the first thing a person would ask when they are face to face with their parent's murderer. Wouldn't make sense for her to stop mid breakdown to ask how he knew. As for the mc being edgy, yes that is correct. If you don't like characters like Ayanokoji then this book is not for you. Author here 🙋‍♂️ This novel is my wsa entry for the year 2026 🥳 A brief summary: This story about the MC being reincarnated inside a game he played just before he died. It is world where demon are hated. His goal is to eliminate the up and coming heroes of the hero academy. But eliminate doesn't mean just killing, sometimes just breaking your enemies spirit and crushing their hopes and dreams is the most effective method. To do this he must manipulate things behind the scene and come up with various schemes to get what he wants. As for his ability, the MC awakens an adaptation skill as well as a transmutation ability. Both these abilities take a more scientific approach to power fantasy. This book is partly scifi. The MC won't be overpowered since he has to put in effort to increase his ability. World building: This story takes place in a slightly futuristic world. It all started when different races showed up on earth. These races include, elves, dwarves, vampires etc. Then came the demons. All the races joined together to fight against the demon race. Eventually they won but in this war, most of the land on earth was destroyed leaving only 1 continent. Since there are several different races, they were forced to share the limited resources available on the continent leading to another all race war. This all came to an end when they discovered teleportation technology which allowed them to travel across the stars to different planets and gather different resources. These resources included beasts crystals, mana crystals, dungeon cores, special material, alloys, ancient weapons etc. Most of these planets were inhabited by dangerous beasts and strange weather phenomenon, making them dangerous places to live for long. The people who ventures to these different planets are called Heroes. Personally I think that the world building is the best part of this novel since the MC along with the students of the academy will venture to different planets where they will go through several challenges and tribulations. Each planets will be thoroughly detailed and explored. It won't be faceslapping in a different environment. I hate plots where the MC jumps from one third rate villain to the next. So readers who have similar to taste, don't worry about that. The MC won't be the academy's dog where every professor, man, woman, child, cat and dog is out to get him just to drive the conflict. There will be villains but just like he world building, I prefer quality over quantity.
