The Fool's Library
Just moments before the game’s closed beta began, Rast did not step onto the path of glory and admiration that a protagonist, blessed with foreknowledge of the story, might naturally walk.
Instead, his time became hopelessly trapped in the small city of Deep Blue Harbor. No matter what Rast did, each evening the ancient awakening god would erase the city—and every trace he had left within it—resetting time to the beginning.
He experienced joy, using his infinite time to woo countless women, delve into the most obscure books in the library, and hone his skills to perfection…
He experienced despair, attempting to stop the descent of the malevolent god, only to succumb to endless failure and self-abandonment…
Until that fateful day. After countless failures, when Rast once again faced the ancient god in his fragile mortal form, he saw a figure that should never have appeared.
“Huh? By history, Deep Blue Harbor should have been obliterated by the god’s aftermath already,” the figure said. The game’s cover girl—the future Silver Sword Saint—looked at him in bewilderment.
“And… who is this strange projection from the Night World? Why is there no record of him in history?”
Rast: ? I’ve nearly speedrun the game, and you’re only telling me it’s a story trap now? And… all these three hundred years I’ve been playing were just the beta version?!
Reflections of the past, echoes of history, remnants of civilization—they all converge in the Night World.
And those who traverse it are its travelers.
“They belong to the night, yet shine like countless stars.”
