If he just lets her go or kills her, he might end up at the mercy of the devil (at least that is his thought process). The devil might come from him tomorrow, the day after or after several weeks when he is outside the protective boundary of the estate. Having Saya next to him at least gives him a limited amount of agency

Keep Devourer's Madness in mind. MC cannot be stressed out all the time if he wants to keep his Madness in control.

I understand where you are coming from but think of it this way. Devourer's Madness is a kind of "corruption" that takes hold of you every time you use this "forbidden" power. And don't worry, it only exists to make sure he doesn't mindlessly devour all beings in existence. It won't actually stop him from devouring the important stuff ;)

I did not explicitly mention it here, but most of these battles are fought at a pretty high cultivation level.
