It is rare to find a novel/webnovel that uses the classical writing style used in paperback publishes. This novel not only features this style but honor's it greatly through great storytelling, character development, and worldbuilding. As of writing this review, the 12 chapters available already have the immense potential to grip the readers into the dark story it tells. The first chapter successfully sets up one's expectations and the rest of the 11 chapters after deliver on them. There are the rare grammatical errors, but it is reasonable considering the author's daily publishing schedule. All in all, I am impressed by both the quality and consistency of the chapters. "Soulless Lord: Empty life" is a dime in a dozen piece, a truly quality piece of literature. It is a shame that it is not as popular as it should be.
While I do not read many transmigration novels/webnovels. I must admit that such a genre does have a very enticing premise. Since most dabble on the idea of "what if's" on account of the second chance the MC will get whether they like it or not. Thus, in my perspective, such stories should focus more on the perspective of the MC instead of the happenings of any other character. "The Do-Over System:My Beloved is the Villain!", properly uses this idea, as the story is fully told from the perspective of the MC. This leads on to create a gripping narrative that entrances the reader to invest heavily on the now troubled new life of the MC. Allowing the story to naturally transition from scene to scene seamlessly. Strangely, the first 3 chapters are riddled with a few obvious grammatical errors, but from then on until chapter 12, such error are few and far in between. Please do not allow these errors to dissuade you from reading the rest of the piece, as you will be missing out an a rich world filled with compelling characters backed up with great storytelling. I do hope the author continues to or returns to updating regularly, as it seems that there are already many who adore the story.
Within the flooded market of "Systems", there are few that truly innovate from the tried and tested blueprint that is copy and pasted from one generic system plot to another generic system plot. Abysswalker: LARPing into the shadow is one of the very few examples. This piece brings in new flavor to the now horrendously stale and oversaturate "system" genre of novels/webnovels. Having LARPing or Live Action Roleplaying as the main world building instrument, this novel is able to create a more down to earth narrative of power fantasy, that directly challenges the transmigration and reincarnation system swarm that can be found in every nook and cranny of this site. This does not mean, however, that the piece is completely absolved from the many cliché's that plague novels of its kind. Of course, at this point it should be expected, as while Abysswalker introduces a new ingredient to the recipe, the formula will still and will always remain the same. It should be heavily noted, that due to the frankly immense number of chapters the author manages to pump out weekly, the quality of the writing tends to be hit or miss throughout my reading experience. There are many cases scattered across the chapters of some grammatical and contextual errors that range in severity from minor to major. Note that to some, this is a very notable factor that may turn them away from reading past the first few chapters. But I would definitely advice you to power through these errors as the story, pacing, and characters, do heavily outweigh this single negative in regards to overall narrative value. Upon reading the 19 available free chapters that I have access to at the time of writing this review. I can confidently say that Abysswalker: LARPing into the shadow is a newly cut gem in need of polishing, a truly new, fast paced, action packed, and quality story. Brought down only by the semi dubious writing quality from time to time. I believe that the future of this piece remains bright, as the author has nailed the fundamentals of writing good fiction. Know that grammar can always be fixed, but the essence of a story can only be replaced.
There will be some technologies he may use, but the world itself would have a soft limit on what he can and can't do.
I am already planning out the map, so yes a map will be made and released sometime in the future.
No plans yet, but ill see if i can squeeze it in to somehow progress the plot. Or if not Julius, then one of the side characters might get the arch.
I have actually, especially since I think that period of Greece was very interesting.
Its probably because the novel has not been vetted/verified yet.
Hello, thank you for the sentiment. The chapters are written to convey a whole story scene I had in mind. So chapter length will vary depending on the scenario to have more focus. That way readers won't be too overwhelmed with what is happening, especially considering the many terms and jargon I will eventually have to use. Well thats the effect I want to achieve anyway. So as of right now, no proper publishing schedule yet. Because I want to make sure the quality is good. But generally I will try to update either everyday or every other day. Thank you again for the encouragement and for being the first to voice your opinion. I am very much open to all criticism for the betterment of the story.
