I followed the rule of reading the first five chapters and the synopsis before leaving my review. If I were to purchase a paperback, the synopsis would be my guide. Unfortunately, your synopsis and the initial chapters didn’t suggest any twists; it felt like the same premise as other books. Yes, a wolf-less female lead isn’t exactly a fresh idea, but your lead doesn’t have to follow the typical trope of attending a mate selection ball while she's in heat, as is common in other stories, and which happens to be echoed in the initial chapters. The comment below addressed some points I wanted to clarify. The beauty of literature lies in its diversity—don’t limit your creativity to trends just to keep things going. It’s like an author overloading a book with “spice” because they think that’s what readers want, but in the end, it just turns into another romance novel that lacks a genuine emotional connection. Your title drew me in because I love forbidden romance, and the idea of a vampire and werewolf relationship gave me all the feels, only for me to be met with the same plotlines from other books. I look forward to reading more, though—your writing style and storytelling technique are delightful. I just had issues with the plot.
strong women? girl did you even read this??😂
I couldn't finish this novel, even with limited free access. The female lead is arguably the most clueless in Webnovel history (feel free to verify). The male lead is incredibly immature, acting like a child in a grown man's body. A particularly disturbing chapter stands out, where the nursing mother leaves her child to reunite with her ex-fiancé and baby daddy. She consumes alcohol to prove she's not lightheaded, and the male lead takes advantage of her in that state (dismissed as a one-night stand). The next morning, he asks, "So you have milk?" – a cringe-worthy and gross moment. The entire novel is riddled with uncomfortable lines, leaving me questioning the editorial process. It's surprising that this novel received a winning position in Cupid's Quill, making me wonder if the reviewer was, ironically, under the influence.
