Yes, in a way it's kind of obvious that the situation isn’t in his favor and he’s doing what’s within his reach as an ordinary person. The highlight of the story isn’t him as a human, but him as the Demon King — so his choices here won’t be the best in the eyes of many, but they are logical. Normal people in this kind of situation wouldn’t act much differently — some might even take their own lives. The real focus is entirely on him as the Demon King, and that shift starts after chapter 5. That’s where we get a very different protagonist (and it’s not a random or forced change — it’s a logical transformation based on the race switch, which brings new instincts and values). So, in my view, it’s obvious that some of his choices may seem bad, but they make sense because he’s still human — and all humans make mistakes when pushed into stressful and extreme situations all the time. Not to mention how money alone can push people to do insane things. Thank you for your common sense in thinking logically and continuing to read! I hope you enjoy what comes next — this story is one of my attempts to create something amazing, and I can proudly say it only gets better as it goes on. The R-18 content is not the main focus, so if you're not into that, you can skip it and stick to the main plot. I’d say only about 5–10% of the story involves intimate scenes — the rest is story, character growth, and more. There’s an entire cosmology, backstory, and world logic that gets revealed gradually as the plot unfolds.
