Good work! I enjoyed the way this story immediately created suspense by beginning right at the start of the overall action, rather than trying to set the scene, establish characters, etc. and then leading to the action proper. This immediately hooks the reader and makes them want to learn more about these people and what will happen to them. I also appreciate the way the story's word choices, employing many serious-sounding words such as "dilapidated", "indescribable", "spacious", and so on, create a somewhat formal tone that shows the deathly seriousness in which the characters find themselves. Many of the words are less commonly utilised in everyday speech, though still conceivably used (such as the words above). This underlines the story's serious tone, showing that the situation is serious indeed. However, the words are never overly formal or "sophisticated", meaning the story is also easy to follow, therefore helping maintain the suspense mentioned above and allowing the reader to become fully gripped by this disturbing narrative.
