I was honestly curious because considering how the story tries to be kinda historical but post 1950 even concubines weren’t much of a thing in china at least according to Claude and so yeah I get the trope but I disapprove of historical fiction doing it so casually look at America1919 mc built a private island just to be king and marry his girls that keeps the history accurate front and solves the problem not just brush it off

Honestly always thought immortal novels are silly for that you know they live so bloody long and essentially rule over weaker humans it makes sense any and everything should be about comfort I’d say tv toilet paper and the like make more sense in such a world it makes more sense to be very high tech just 4-5 hours a day of cultivating I mean look at society isn’t power hungry people look for comfort and beauty every day why would true power and extra lifespan change that it should accelerate it
