Ascension of the Unseen
In a world where luck determines success and failure, Ethan Blackwood has always been a man plagued by misfortune. At 28, Ethan's life is a monotonous grind of unremarkable days and missed opportunities. Working a dead-end job with no friends and no prospects, Ethan resigns himself to a life of mediocrity.
However, his mundane existence is shattered one rainy evening when an otherworldly door materializes in his apartment. A voice beckons him to enter the door, promising that everything he desires lies beyond. Desperate for change and driven by a faint glimmer of hope, Ethan steps through the door and finds himself in a colossal, mysterious tower.
Each floor of the Tower is a different world with its own set of rules, dangers, and challenges. Here, Ethan discovers he possesses a unique ability: he can see and measure the "chance" of those around him. This chance manifests as a numerical value above each person's head, representing their luck and how protected they are by plot armor.
The Tower is populated with individuals blessed by various types of chance:
Gold Chance: The highest form of luck, granting near invincibility.
Silver Chance: Attracts wealth and material success.
Ebony Chance: Provides survival through disastrous situations but comes at personal cost.
Crimson Chance: Associated with combat prowess and victory in battle.
Emerald Chance: Tied to health, longevity, and natural affinity.
Azure Chance: Enhances intelligence, strategy, and perception.
Black Chance: Brings supernatural powers with dark consequences.
White Chance: Grants heroic charisma and the ability to inspire others.
Ethan, now equipped with his newfound abilities, must navigate this perilous Tower. His goal is to climb to the top by outsmarting and overcoming those with greater luck. He quickly learns that defeating those with Gold Chance requires more than just brute strength; he must have superior luck himself. Furthermore, Ethan discovers that by defeating others, he can absorb their luck, thereby enhancing his own.
As Ethan ascends through the Tower, he faces increasingly formidable opponents and discovers the deeper mysteries of the Tower's creation and its true purpose. His journey is not only a quest for personal power but also a search for redemption and understanding in a world governed by chance and fate.
