No, brief, well timed, flashbacks would be better. Time skips are a great way to bridge over lengthy arcs that are mostly just development montages. That way we can get to the meat and potatoes without having to grind through a bunch of training chapters. I was very happy you did a time skip. If you do write the arc, put a warning before they start so I can skip over them please.
