**"Once upon a time, a bunch of mystical beings got the boot from the God Realmâwhy? Who knows! They landed in a whole new dimension, now dubbed the Demon Realm. These exiles, not ones to stick to the 'sacred' script, flipped the script and became the notorious Demon Race. Fueled by a fiery grudge and a thirst for payback, their clash with the Gods was inevitable. And so began the epic showdown, soon to be whispered in hushed tones as the 'First Demon-God War'."** The Three Factions in High School DxD play a central role in the series. These factions are the Angels, Devils, and Fallen Angelsâall of which have their roots in mythological beings from the Holy Bible. Pre-Great War: Thousands of years before the story begins, the Biblical God cast out Angels who opposed His teachings. These exiled Angels became the Fallen Angels, inhabiting the Underworld alongside the Devils. Unlike other supernatural groups, these three factions were interconnected and played a significant role in shaping the Judeo-Christian religion. The Great War: The Three Factions eventually clashed under the leadership of the Biblical God, the Four Great Satans, and the Fallen Angel organization known as Grigori, led by Azazel. This conflict, aptly named the Great War, raged for an unknown period until it ended hundreds of years prior to the creation of the Kuoh Treaty. The deaths of the Biblical God and the Four Great Satans marked the conclusion of this epic struggle.
