I haven't read this book, but if a character in the story is heartless, it's a bit off-putting. I don't like heartless protagonists who can betray not only their comrades but even their own women if it's to their advantage. I've read several books like this before, and I've stopped reading them immediately! I also don't like protagonists who live for friendship and are pacifists who won't kill anyone! I especially like protagonists like those in My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives and the like. That's my ideal protagonist type. He'll help if possible, kill if necessary for his family, and will love his women above all else and would never betray them!
