Well, he is someone jaded and cynical, that's for sure, but he is not devoid of emotions. The change in his personality pre-apocalypse to now is because... if you remember from the first chapter, he was said to be feeling alive as soon as he saw the battleship. So he is actually feeling better post-apocalypse. But either way, these moments of vulnerability are too few, only like twice in almost two hundred chapters. He is as you saw him in chapter 1 for most of it.

I can't give you a straight answer, but what I can tell you is that I'm thinking of going a different direction what I initially thought. Primarily about the harem size, which might end up way bigger than I anticipated. This is why I said in that comment that I didn't want to lock myself into anything and it's because I can't really say if I will do something or not 200 chapters down the line.
