The translation is good, but the story is extraordinarily fast-paced. One chapter he catches a pokemon, the next they are in a new city about to fight a gym. For me, pokemon fanfictions are more about the journey, where this gives me a feeling of speedrunning a game. MC wants the 3 starters of Kanto, catches them without any issue within like 5 chapters, MC needs to run an errand for someone, suddenly he is in the town he needs to be in. You don't see any training, bonding with pokemon, or a journey, which for me are the biggest things needed.
