Overall, this novel is a must read, especially if you like protagonist that are a more realistic and not just some overpowered guy. The comedy is great and the characters are all memorable. Also, since I'm a sucker for good world building and history, Shadow Slave has been one of my favorite world to this day. Using nightmares and dreams as a power system is refreshing and new, albeit the premise is basically the same with dungeon stories but with a twist. The only downside to this novel (hence the 4 star) is that the author liked to drone on a bit over something that's obvious; the author would explain something in 4 paragraphs even though it can be explained in 1. There by making the flow of the story to stop abruptly by telling so much about something so little, yet not showing the readers on what actually matters.
