Magic was limited to the ocean and it's creatures, so humans didn't have the same leverage to visit the deep of the Atlantis ocean like they would have wanted. They could only go deep in the ocean through the use of submarines, but even those vehicles couldn't go that far into the ocean. It was either it ran out of fuel, or the oxygen wouldn't be sufficient for the humans to keep going. - Josh54310mthCommented
