You do know that number is just something some random person made up right. There is more than enough space for everyone to live for a long time. And I mean a lot of space. Not to mention that technology is continually advancing to allow for the support for larger and larger populations. That said, the earlier concern is very warranted. Right now, on average families have less than one child anymore, based on that metric, it is easy to see that the population is actually increasing at a declining rate. If it doesn't stop this trend, running out of space is going to be the least of our worries.

I'm pretty sure they were training for the army, not the marine corps. The Marine Corps also wasn't in Europe that much during WWII, they were kind of busy in the Pacific.
