Polygamous harems bother me because I can't imagine an emotionally and mentally healthy person—someone who knows there are billions of potential partners—being okay with their partner having multiple lovers. It feels like a form of NTR, where you choose to be cheated on. In contrast, in a polyamorous harem, the difference is that all the people involved are partners with each other, which doesn't give me that NTR feeling. It also doesn't convey the same sense of submission or emotional imbalance that the other type of relationship does.
