What about his dreams?
This isn’t one of those stories where everyone except the MC feels like cardboard. Even side characters have clear motives, sects have real structure, and the world feels like it's moving with or without the protagonist. The MC is sharp, calculating, and a bit morally ambiguous — but not in the edge-lord kind of way. You actually understand why he makes the choices he does. He doesn’t just want power for power’s sake; he’s navigating a brutal world that clearly wasn’t built for someone like him. Watching him climb the ranks using a code meant for a villain is half satisfying, half terrifying. The cultivation system is also pretty well thought out. It’s not just "absorb qi, punch harder." There are layers — techniques, political influence, soul cultivation, and even subtle Dao themes, but all explained in a way that’s not overwhelming. The story actually takes time to show how sects operate, what immortality means to different people, and why the “righteous” path isn’t always so righteous. Overall, if you like world-building that feels lived-in, characters with actual depth, and a cultivation system that rewards strategy over plot armor, this one’s worth diving into.
Have been reading so far and I am not disappointed.
