A man in his mid-thirties knelt on the forest floor, his fishing cap tilted forward as he clutched a motionless woman in his arms. The truth was obvious the moment I saw her—she had shot herself. The gun was still loosely clutched in her limp hand. Seeing this a sharp mix of heartache and panic hit me all at once, but I forced the feeling down and kept watching.

Standing directly behind the hulking creature was a figure draped entirely in living shadows. He wore a long, flowing black trench coat that seemed to actively absorb the dappled sunlight. Underneath the coat, a dark, loose-fitting shirt rustled softly in the wind, completely untucked and flowing freely. A high collar and a sleek black mask obscured his face, leaving only a pair of piercing, terrifyingly calm golden eyes visible in the shadows.

Steve squeezed his eyes shut and started shouting, "Shut up, shut up, shut up!" He threw his head back, staring at his popcorn-textured ceiling. "CURSE YOU JOHN! CURSE YOU!!!!" he shouted to the heavens, damning the friend who had come up with this ridiculous, torturous challenge. "I just... I... I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FREAKING ANIME!!!!!!!"
