Sorry those answers are incorrect, due to Talia's murder that knowledge was lost in Beacon Hills, possibly the only ones that know for definitively that Vamps exist would be The Argents (through their bestiary/knowledged passed down from older generations) .Alan Deaton (Through folklore and Druid Texts) and maybe Peter, who would have been informed by Talia. As for Laura, Derek and Cora they would not be aware of their existence.

Yes, I believe the reason Derek was such a composed character in the series was due to him feeling responsible for Laura's death. Also, I wanted to make Laura stand out more and be a sort of mother figure of the Hale Pack.

While still in the early stages, I have played around with several plotlines that could branch off the Pack Link. (These are nothing more than ideas, and may never actually be used.) Such as better communication during "hunts", allowing a pack of werewolves to take down an older vampire. Alphas being able to force their betas to do unspeakable acts against their will. / An Alpha's character able to influence their pack to act as they perceive their Alpha would. / Betas being able to overwhelm their Alpha with emotional stress if they believe he's unworthy or too weak to lead. Basically an Alpha is as strong as his pack, with any insubordination weakening the Alpha.

Then a few months ago, upon returning from a mission, he was devastated to learn that Aurora had gone missing. He immediately sought out Tristan for help, but was shocked to hear that it he who had sent her away, citing her weakening mental health. Kai was furious and wanted nothing more than to rip his throat out, but knew that wouldn't resolve anything.
