It's probably because of the bubble Cale-nim is in. The SG wants him as contractor and for that he needs to be alive so the bubble makes sure he gets the nutrients he needs while "asleep".

After what happened with Raon, I think it is normal that he has some separation anxiety. I mean he was tortured for 4 years and got then saved by Cale-nim, who said he could live freely and do as he wished. After following Cale-nim he got all the food he wanted, a new home and family. Isn't it normal that he doesn't want to be separated for too long from the person who saved him and gave him a better life.
