I only read to chapter 150 and dropped it. The authors does a good job of developing the characters, though slowly. I honestly spend 80% of my reading time crying. But I’m a baby. There hasn’t been much action or world building because so much time is spent on understanding the emotions of the characters. Ultimately I dropped it because I guess I disagree with the authors definition of consent. I’m not against writers using SA in novels because SA happens in real life; it is varied and has many faces. However, I draw the line when rape ocurrs and the authors then has the ML say “I won’t ever touch you without your consent.” Last time I checked, unconscious people can’t give consent. When I say unconscious, I mean the FL was dreaming THE WHOLE time. It would have been better if the consent talk were completely omitted. And there’s no TW because I don’t think the authored considered it SA. Imaging dreaming about gardens, trees and wolves just to wake up with a person between your legs after they completed their deed: and then that person tells you they won’t ever touch you without your consent….😑

How does she consent when unconscious

Here the thing, that sound cute but in reality, if she continues to associate her grief with him, then their relationship won’t get better.

That’s why he gets no sympathy from me. After all these years, he still doesn’t deserve her. And the way he talks to her about her past is very inconsiderate of her experiences. He doesn’t know her. He only knows the rose tinted version of her from his youth and it prevents him from knowing all of her. What’s more annoying is that he’s holding on to this passed version of her, when she was felt powerless and was mistreated, and he wants to bring that version of her out.
