Normally this is a sign of MTL or bad translation. Based on what I read after this, it seems you just wrote him narrating in first person for some reason? So I was wrong on that, so sorry. But I’ll be honest, odd writing there. Everything is written, up to this point, with either his thoughts, or as a third person narration, then suddenly, he’s narrating in first person, since it’s not his thoughts as things are happening, it’s his thoughts as he’s telling us about what had happened
