Book Without You
I am Laguna, the owner of the most books in school. My daily work besides eating, drinking, listening to the teacher in class, doing assignments, and making coffee is reading books.
People call me a quack because I can almost always answer questions that the teacher can't. They say I'm like a shaman. They said I was like a shaman.
My quiet life with books and noisy classmates suddenly changed drastically when I found a dusty book at the school guard's house. The school guard said that it was a book left behind by his dead wife.
My curiosity made me desperate to borrow the book from the custodian's father. I thought there wouldn't be anything strange because it was just a book. However, my guess was wrong.
After a day of reading the book I borrowed from the school guard, I fell asleep and had a dream. Actually, I wasn't sure if it was a dream or not. It felt so real, someone in an ivory white hat approached me while smiling strangely.
He told me that this magnificent place with thousands or maybe millions of books in wooden cabinets was called Payoda. Inside were hundreds of children busy reading books, ignoring the presence of me and the uncle in the colorful hat. The uncle's name was Bukudia.
I was happy to be in this giant library, but confusion dominated my thoughts. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to go back to where I came from because Bukudia had sent me and the other children there on a mission.
A mission that made no sense.
A mission where I had to find people who hated books and bring them to Payoda Library. Unfortunately, the mission was carried out through a dream and to make matters worse, I had to face Richard, the most recalcitrant student in the school, as the target.
