For reals, bet they never thought of that, but even more so as death looms over Bel. In a sense that she can actually die saving the prince and they will definitely never see her again.

I guess I would act the worst and definitely order the ugliest cake ever. Order ugly drapes and demand to sleep at night over there and be awake during the day.

Must have been intense. I was in ballet when I was a kid. It was exhausting and fun.
This was the expression she was used to. Mrs. David was a strict teacher; she wasn't cruel, just strict, and she had put Bel through some hardship. The instant the older lady had found out that the child could dance, she had made sure Bel learned as many moves as possible. - Mina_Upton4dCommented
This is extremely bad, so the circumstances of Bel's wedding are to tighten, so much it'll be chocking her.

They did this for the marriage alliance because Bel was so resistant. This solidifies things.

Bel frowned slightly. There was no reason why her mother would lie to her. Well, there was a good enough reason, but her mother would never stoop so low. Bel didn't like the premise of the entire situation. - Mina_Upton4dCommented
Sure, it's just easier for everyone to put it like this to make Bel seems selfish, but I've learned that being selfish sometimes is like self care. You have to care about yourself to love another.
"I know you want no part in this marriage, and I truly wish this was one of the times we could let you do as you want, but we can't. You can't pass this offer up. An alliance with vampires would do very well for the kingdom. You may not know this, but there have been rumors of war. King Arnold wants to expand his colony, and I think he did threaten your father. I don't know much about this; he wouldn't tell me. Bel didn't want to take part in the dance, but as she had found, her opinions about what she wanted for the marriage were overlooked and unheeded. They had beaten her down until she didn't want to fight anymore, but Bel knew she wasn't going to roll on her back and take it. - Mina_Upton4dCommented
