If the author did drop this novel, then we should have expected that. We can't expect him to continue despite the reviews section being a war zone after all. IF you want to be realy safe then use proven encryption algorithms like AES or Two Fish to encrypt the data with a safe password. I 16 characters and the basic password rules schuld suffice, but I use a over 25 character long password to encrypt a database of all my other passwords.
