This is chinese fanfic so its quite common for them not to know the complete background of some characters after all most of their fanfic source came from other fanfic as well

True they're many reason why a person can become a loser such as bullying, abandonment,inferiority,indulgence,lack of motivation,Intellectual Disabilities, and etc take rudeus for example he became a loser in his previous life because of bullying which result into inferiority complex and then he started to indulged in fictional entertainment which leads him to being abandoned by his family and relatives after he got into another world he would still remain the same if he did not try to grow up and stand for himself and how he does that is through the support of his family and friends, That's why the true way for someone to truly grow is not by insulting them or praising them for their imperfections but to lift them up from the past and push them forward to the future.
