To put it bluntly, Ether is an element not commonly spoken about. You have your basics, Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, etc. And then you get into the more uncommon ones, Lightning, Ice etc. Ether is imaginary for lack of a better term. In that, it's not something material in the same you can point to Ice, Fire, Lightning to picture. You can consider it the between and the former state of any composite Element. Frankly, it's not used for anything meaningful on the front, but Lucifer Jr is correct in that it is a phenomenon not discovered until recently, that being within the last couple thousand years. Debate is that it didn't exist until around this time period. In fact, on the rear end, it makes up the basis of the standardized Human Magical System that merlin created, though he did not include the phenomenon in detail, only citing the existence of the 'artificial' Magic that he discovered and incorporated into copying the ability of Devils. - XxDivineDragonxX1mthCommented

I would personally lose a lot of interest in the story if he joins her. It’s an overused choice and frankly stupid, anything rias could offer him he could get from any other faction and more without becoming a slave. Alchemists are rare and he is quickly improving, every faction would give him a great offer. For example Athena, Odin and Azazel would 100% give him better offers that don’t come with slavery
