Ladies and Gentlemen, esteemed scholars of the literary arts, gather 'round, for today we sing the praises of a mighty and most honorable path! The path of No-harem. Yes, my friends, we stand united under the banner of single love interests. Why, you ask? Because we reject the chaos of harem plotlines! For who among us can endure the mental gymnastics required to keep track of ten, twenty, or even *thirty* waifus, all while remembering their tragic backstories, unique powers, and occasional tsundere tendencies? Our noble creed is clear: **One true love, one heart to cherish!** Behold the efficiency! The emotional depth! The sheer, *uncomplicated narrative structure*! No longer shall we be lost in the abyss of side stories, filler arcs, or endless scenes of "misunderstandings" between our MC and his *47th* fiancée. No more, I say! The No-Harem path is one of clarity. Of focused passion. While others may fall to the seductive clutches of the harem, we remain true to a *singular* bond, like a sword that cuts through the confusion of a dozen love interests. Let us raise our drinks high, and together, we chant: One MC, one love, and zero waifu drama! And let’s be honest—our MCs can barely handle one romance subplot. You really want to give them ten? I think not. Join us, brothers and sisters, and together we shall ascend! For the No-Harem sect shall never fall to filler, and our novels shall remain gloriously focused, forever and always! GLORY TO THE NO-HAREM CULT
The story has a great concept, but the writing and characters fall short. The execution lacks depth and fails to bring the idea to its full potential, resulting in a mediocre experience despite the promising premise.
Like I said above, rapiers are the weapons of dualists not soldiers or fighters.
Another mistake. Rapiers were impractical for anything beyond duels or 1v1 self-defense due to their design, which prioritized finesse and precision for thrusting rather than the heavy, powerful strikes needed in broader combat scenarios. Their slender, pointed blades were effective for penetrating gaps in an opponent’s armor in a one-on-one fight, but they lacked the cutting power and robustness required to break through armor or effectively handle multiple attackers. Additionally, their lightweight and delicate construction made them unsuitable for the rough conditions of battlefield combat, where durability and versatility were crucial.
Great swords were not the impractical. Greatswords, such as the German “Zweihänder” and the Scottish “Claymore,” were designed for powerful, sweeping attacks. Their size and weight allowed them to be effective against formations of pikes or to break through enemy lines, and they could also be used to strike over or around shields. Although they required lots of training they are not impractical.
Spears are very easy to learn because a spear is essentially a long stick with a pointed end, which allows for effective thrusting and striking with minimal training. Unlike more complex weapons that require intricate skill and precision, the spear’s effectiveness relies more on its reach and leverage, making it accessible to soldiers and civilians alike, even with limited training.
Swords, while historically significant, are not the most deadly weapons because they lose effectiveness against heavier armor. Against lighter armor like leather or gambeson, swords are effective, but against chainmail and especially plate armor, they struggle to penetrate due to the armor’s ability to distribute force and deflect blows. Swords remained useful in duels, civilian defense, and as secondary weapons, but their role diminished as more powerful and efficient weapons like polearms, maces and warhammers emerged.
Ya Merlin made that room to experiment on the students of hogwarts. There was even a magical portrait of him in that room. You should give the book another try I know a lot of people left after the “mind controlling” happened but the story was still genuinely very good.
