Dude, they're acting like we're immoral just because we openly express our desires, while completely ignoring the fact that characters like the Joker and Sukuna kill people for the slightest reasons, and that the Joker is literally willing to destroy entire universes just for his own amusement. Somehow, that makes them the moral guardians and us the immoral ones
Dude, just ignore this guy. He seems like one of those people who think acting like a moral guardian makes them look cool. He doesn't even realize that people are no longer that interested in characters who are constantly playing the hero or, in fiction terms, trying to be Superman. If you look at what's popular right now, around 60% of the stories people read feature villains or antiheroes. And he's reacting as if I told the author to make the protagonist a rapist or someone who murders random passersby. Maybe the guy's brain has melted. What I'm actually saying is much simpler: if the protagonist constantly worries about the hostages' lives and goes out of his way to protect them, it creates a major plot hole. Personally, if someone in my city kept taking hostages, killing only the bad people, and letting everyone else go, the whole sense of fear and shock would eventually disappear. Especially when the protagonist's main source of power comes from terror, brutality, and entertaining deranged entities, that becomes a huge inconsistency in the story
It seems like you think being a villain only means killing people or committing atrocities. What I mean is that he should lean more toward the villain side and stop caring so much about whether the so-called innocent civilians live or die. If he's supposed to have the label of a villain, then he should stop acting like an antihero. And trust me, if someone checked my computer or phone, the most incriminating thing they'd find would be a picture of you—and even that would probably only get me fined for littering
It's a good fanfic. There's no AI involved—the author is writing it with their own effort, and the update schedule is fairly consistent. However, I don't think the main character is a villain at all, not even remotely. He's much more of an anti-hero. As for his relationship with Gwen, I think it has the potential to ruin the entire story depending on how the author chooses to write it. The second issue is the system itself. The system supposedly wants terror and chaos, yet it specifically wants hostages to remain unharmed. In my opinion, that's a plot hole. The third point is that I think the main character is generally well written, but his motivation is extremely questionable. Despite knowing exactly what kind of universe he's living in—the Marvel Universe—he refuses to use his powers and only decides to do so after finding himself in danger. I don't think anyone who understands how dangerous the Marvel Universe is would realistically say, "I'm just going to live a peaceful life," and then refuse to use their powers. That's all for now.
I kind of like the way he is now, but I think he should lean a bit more toward the villain side. The anti-hero trend is getting a little old. Don't get me wrong, his current version is good, but if, over time, civilians always manage to keep living their lives no matter what happens, I think that would weaken his deterrence factor. Just think about it: if civilians are never harmed regardless of the situation, and only supposedly bad people end up dying, then he basically becomes a hero—or, in our terms, an anti-hero. In other words, he'd just be a glorified Punisher.
Hey, I think you should consider writing on Fiction.live as well. I believe you'd fit in there quite well, and the live interaction and chat features would help you improve even further as a writer. Of course, that's just my opinion
I agree. I think a style that's subtle enough to stay mysterious, yet clear enough to convey what's happening, would be perfect.
Actually, I have a question. I'm happy with the way the story is going right now, but I feel like Veritas is being a bit too passive. Even though the system wants terror, the smaller incidents are enough for now. Still, I think it would be better if he caused a much larger event, especially to trigger a new wave of growth in his power. That way, if the Avengers suddenly decide to target him, he'd at least be more prepared for it
Just a comment suggestion: Hey Veritas, next time—or whenever you feel like it—have Gwen's mask come off and show the public's reaction to her
