The floors weren't made from materials used before. They were made from minerals once thought impossible to process. Now with the help of magic and technology, they not only were able to process these said minerals, but were able to extract more for wider uses. It was by no means cheap to get them. But then the cost of buying this mineral was quickly forgotten when using them as they provided a more sturdy and fine look to whatever project they were used in than former materials previously in circulation.
