First, thank you for reading the book. Good to hear that you liked the novel! You’re right, some parts are slow, and I admit they could be trimmed. But this pacing comes from the special nature of the main character. I’m developing a 3-in-1 protagonist: Zayn, with his struggles against his family. Xane, with his fight against the world. Viyron, with his hidden mysteries. So while it may look like the MC is still weak, a lot has been happening beneath the surface. From near-death survival in the first week, to finally stepping out of their shell. Much of the early chapters built the world, the family dynamics, and the foundation of hex arts, so the payoffs will only get bigger from here. That said, I also know my slower chapter update rate can feel frustrating. I’m pushing myself to release more chapters now, so the story will move much faster in the coming days. They are indistinguishable because of the outside mess. Like, within these 5 chapters, they already almost die a couple of times. So definitely Xane, who did not know about anything, will just follow the advice of Zayn, who atleast has some information. Both of them have unique perks and personalities. You will get to see more of them when the situation slows a bit. I mean, think of it like this: if I were to put two strangers in a room full of traps, you won’t expect them to act normally. It's not the common survival sense. Anyone with a brain will try to gain information, and that's what's going on here. Xane is smart, so he is listening to Zayn, not doing his own thing. And while Zayn can’t control his body but he is smart enough to realize that his survival depends on Xane. That's why he was trying his best to reveal as much as possible. (I hope this makes sense. I get it that I could showcase the stark difference between their reaction, but that only means I have to dumb down one of them. Which I don’t think will be good for the long run.)
