This novel is a joke. It seems like the author himself/herself gave up on the story and decided to end it with a one-liner. Don’t waste your time reading, 90% of the story was spent on peanut gallery mocking the MC and the rest was the MC barely defended himself. There’s no plot whatsoever, just a grand backdrop that tricks people into reading, making them (me) think that the author would give the readers some elaborate revenge plot. But nope… it’s probably too much to ask of the author.

I agree. Even legal spouse or parents cannot just swallow up your assets unless you’re dead or dying with a legal will to support the inheritance transfer. You’ll have to switch off your brain to continue reading or if you have plenty of spare time, then read it as a form of entertainment. But who knows, maybe this “assassin” willingly transferred it when he was nearly beaten to death by his master.

I don’t know why this story is dropped but if you’re here hoping to find an honest review, then read it if you don’t mind incomplete story. I stumbled here after reading other “divine doctor” novels and I can assuredly say, this one here is one of the better if not the best divine doctor novel I’ve read. Of course, that conclusion is out of only a dozen of novels with the same theme: peerless martial arts with divine medical skills. The story started off a bit flimsy and illogical (particularly on how the FL was forced to marry the MC) but it soon steadied on and the plot slowly diverges. The female harem characters are given their respective plots and growth. Even the MC’s background has lots of twists and turns. After reading other divine doctor novels that delve on petty romance issue and one-dimensional villainy, this book here is a breather. Of course, it still has some villain characters that stay bad for bad sake, on the whole, it focuses more on cultivations with a strong nationalistic and military undertone. So compared to other harem novels, it’s more diverse and multi-dimensional. No characters in the harem is unlikeable, though one or two might grate on your nerves a bit but the author always write a redemptive reason behind their actions, so no, there’s no brainless bimbos. Give it a try if you don’t mind a story with no ending, and trust me, you won’t feel like wasting your time, or at least not to the extent that you start cursing about reading the nth cliche misunderstandings between the couples.

Is this novel dropped by the author or by WebNovel due to lack of popularity? Actually, I think this novel definitely has potential and it’s much better than many of the novels with “divine doctor” theme. It doesn’t have a lot of the brainless annoying characters that keep repeating the same cliche actions. Instead, it has a steady plot and unexpected twists. I saw there’s another novel by the same author. Just from the description of the other novel, this one here is definitely more interesting. It’s more like a cultivation novel than a pure harem romance novels that mostly delve on petty topics like unreasonable bullying from the rich and illogical one-dimensional behaviour of every villain character. Sigh.. it’s a pity that this novel is discontinued.

Chronologically: Perfect World -> Shrouding the Heavens -> Sacred Ruins. Publishing order: Shrouding the Heavens -> Perfect World -> Sacred Ruins There’s a long time gap between each book. This book (Shrouding the Heavens) actually has the lower cultivation system. Later on, all three MCs of the trilogy reached the same level but Ye Fan started with the cultivation system created by the MC in Perfect World. As you can expect, the series go supernova in the third book. That of course is only about the cultivation levels but in terms of storyline, I prefer the first book the most, followed by this and then the third book.

This is another hypocritical MC trope but I’m glad the manhua stops before everything goes downhill. Until the end of the manhua, the MC is still pretty likeable. The novel has over 1500 chapters but the manhua seems to have been dropped as well (which is an excellent decision). To be fair, the manhua is engaging and the drawing is pleasant. I also noticed they changed some of the plots and storylines of the novel, making the manhua less cliche-like. If you don’t mind a story without ending, then just read it for the fun of it. But if you’re curious about the source and want to read the novel, I suggest don’t waste your time. The writing is obnoxiously bad and contrived, and the author has no sense of coherence and momentum. It’s one of the worst if not the worst story I’ve read.

I don’t read Chinese so Qidian is pretty useless to me but I do want to know the author’s name in Chinese. Sometimes the English translation of the author’s pen name is so off, you can’t find other works of the same author even if you turn Google inside out. Can you please tell me if you know?
