he could use someone in need of power like his 'friend' give him this cultivation method in the form of a chance encounter to test out if it works. regardless of the result you only have one person to kill. if it fails he will turn into stone and die if it succeeded he could be used as a study material

yes no doubt about that BUT he doesn't have Aizen's powers only memories. granted with Aizen's intellect it wouldn't take him time to reach the apex of this low level ninja world. it's up to the author on how much he can bring out Aizen's character.

this is always a very dangerous gamble authors like to make - writing and imitating smart characters. if the author himself is dumb then he cannot bring out the full potential of the said smart characters like their personality, thoughts, etc which ultimately leads to disappointment of many readers.
If Kyoka Suigetsu represented Aizen's current power, the memories of Shinigami Aizen Sousuke embodied his potential. Their true worth far exceeded that of the Zanpakuto itself.
