Yes but it was stated that him working out and training helps with the basics and understanding of his skills so this does benefit him.

Not really she doesn't love Riley she just keeping a front to appear as if she does love him and is just his fiancee to be close to him so that she can keep an eye on him without being disturbed by anyone and Riley knows this due to his game knowledge, it was also stated by Riley that she doesn't love him and he knows cause dragons in this world are beings who have a fated partner they don't love anyone except that partner and for Liyana that fated partner is lucas at least in the game don't know if that will remain the same here or not also the only reason she is keeping an eye on Riley is because he is entertaining and amusing to her that's all.
