Yeah, some readers like to assume things negatively instead of positively but can't connect points and general knowledge. If gene defects could be healed so easily, he would have used it the moment he got it. :)

Ah, but he knows already that his problem can't be fixed by such low-ranking means xD It's general knowledge for him. He went for the best scenario, and it was to obey because 1. his physical stats are utterly low even compared to average human. He can't outrun them. 2. Even if he uses that item, it only protects him for 10 seconds and he can't do anything to save himself in those 10 seconds (can't run) 3. They have pinned him against the pillar. He can't do anything. So, he hoped they would leave him alone if he gave up the item, but they did not, and that sealed their fate :)
