If we assume there’s 175 adults and 50 children in cocoyashi village, with each adult costing 100,000 a month and each child costing 50,000 a month, then Arlong is collecting 20 million a month. The novel says 22 million per month, which would equate to 264 million per year, and the novel says almost 300 million. The numbers are fine.

Agreed, I was shocked that he didn’t choose the vampire fruit, but if he is the fleet admiral and basically never engages in direct combat, then the tanuki fruit is extremely versatile and useful for his schemes

Probably just an OC. Logically, there would have been many big name pirates who were subdued by Garp and Sengoku and even the yonko over the years, and are never mentioned in the main story. Like Redfield, an absolute top tier who isn’t even a real character, not at all related to canon. Someone like Shiki is at least a canon character, even if his movie is noncanon. But Redfield is completely noncanon yet most fanfics include him in some way. It makes sense to have a couple more top tier fighters out there in the op world
