Not dumb, never said that. Lack of common sense. The way the other characters react and act is heavily exaggerated to give the MC a reason to feel vindictive and/or insecure.
Certainly an interesting premise, but it is hurt by the poor writing. While reading it I got the pretty big feeling of reading something almost completely written by AI. Whether or not that is the truth, I don't know, but it does seem robotic. The first big critique is the repetition. A handful of chapters in and you're given the same information multiple times. Over, and over, and over. The flow of the story suffers heavily from this, and it didn't allow me to truly enjoy it. I don't need to be reminded every 3 paragraphs that the MC is physically weak, or that he sees the game differently, or that he is a 'ghost' in the team. I get it. No need to mention it five times in the same chapter. Another big critique is that it heavily pushes itself into the Chinese Novel setting of making everyone around the MC lack common sense just so that the MC feels humiliated when he's treated like garbage. There are so many different ways you can depict insecurity, anxiety, and other psychological problems while also making other human beings be reasonable people with reasonable reactions. No one in a professional Youth Academy will humiliatingly point and laugh at their teammate because they fell on the ground. One other thing that bothers my eyes when reading this is the HEAVY use of: — It is everywhere. Every one or two paragraphs has one of these in the middle. Commas exists. Please, use them. Also, the AI formula of "It's not just THIS—It's THIS!" and its variants are all over the first few chapters. Not a great first impression, hence my negative review. Unfortunate.
For anyone wondering: Yes, Ling Yao is the actual name of a character in Fullmetal. This isn't a chinese translation of a japanese name.
Man, this Leeds United buildup has been great. Genuinely care about this team and I'm excited to see what'll happen in this last arc of the story.
And I think the MC transmigrated before City won the title, so he doesn't know
