Same! I want to know what million different things came to his mind the moment he saw Maxi battered on the floor! He probably had a lot of flashbacks in that one moment, all of the things he noticed about Maxi making sense in a blink of an eye. I want to know! I hope the author dives into it someday. I need me some more Riftan angst (his suffering is too beautiful IM SORRY RIFTAN BBY).
Nice view
Baby Riftan be like
This whole chapter was so beautifully written. I think the author did a wonderful job with Maxi’s thought process. For someone who has lived her whole life in fear, anxiety, and depression, going back to the “normal” is more comfortable to bear even though it’s not necessarily good. It’s just what she’s known. Her fear of losing Riftan’s love and everything she’s come to know is so overwhelming that she just didn’t have the strength to face it. Who could, after losing something so precious? Rosetta’s blunt attitude is such a great contrast to add too. The whole chapter highlights just how broken the Croyso family is. This is what makes the novel so gripping. Much love, Maxi! Hang in there!
Git outta there, Maxi
