"The look on his face was one of interest" sounds better to me.

I realized I had been sitting at the fountain far too long. I closed the book and went to stand. Suddenly I was pulled back to my seat. Sparks immediately ran down my hand. Fuck. Jason apparently had come up and sat down. I never even noticed he was there. "Excuse me!" I said with a start. "See that is why you were supposed to be in David's Camero. But no you had to walk off and buy a book and read at the fountain. You know being close to the heart of town has its advantages but it is also known for trouble. If I had been any other person who sat next to you, what would have happened then?" he scolded. "I am stronger than you think. You should have asked your wolf first." I retorted. I stood again and this time managed to jump and dodge his lunges to grab me. I took off in a full run. Holding tightly to my book and purse. I knew I could outrun Roman in our youth. However, I wasn't sure I could hold my own with Jason. So I figured a head start was definitely needed. I managed to get to my apartment with a winded Jason mere moments behind me. I used my fob to enter the building and closed the door quickly. I quickly entered the elevator and headed for my apartment. I was hoping this night would just end but I would be wrong. I exited the elevator to be met with a million-dollar smile. "Were you out for a late-night run love?" he quipped. "Uh no, I was excited to get back and read my new book," I replied. The look on his face was of interest. "The pages are just swirls of sparkles and colors." He is prying for information. Vampires are always so nosey. "Yeah, it's inkblots." I was quick to reply. "Ahh, that makes sense. To change the subject. Did you already eat? I was coming to ask you to dinner." The question was genuine this time. "Sorry, I did. I found a local steak house that has amazing chicken." He grimaced a little. "I prefer extra rare steaks. But... to each their own. Okay, well rain check then. Maybe tomorrow?" he asked with hope in his voice. I nodded "Sure, tomorrow. Where and when." He made a quick hop in celebration and replied, "I will knock on your door at 9:00 pm. From there we can walk around town and see what is the fancy for the night." I nodded once again and headed into my apartment. I need sleep, I quickly pack the book in a special box that I brought from home. It sends things to and from the Celestial territory similar to a modern-day mailbox. The faster it is away from here the better off the people here aren't tempted to find more. I change and quickly brush my teeth and wash my face. I lay down on the space that will soon be taken by a bed and sleep takes me.
