Yes but Sobek decides to go away because he has to adapt to live alone. Remember, once he will evolve he will became a new species, that means that his old pack will don't recognize him anymore. Also, he has to accelerate his improvements and so he needs a better skill points source.

Exactly. Just like in the games, the more you became stronger, the more difficult increase your abilities became. If this rule didn't exist, than every mc of games, novels and fanfictions would arrive at the top of the food chain in just 20 chapters

I know that they aren't identical, but a caiman tail is the closest thing to the spinosaurus' tail that today exists. Sobek was born in our world, so he compared the tail of his mother with the closest thing that he remembered. Today we use to say that the spinosaurus had a "caiman tail" even if the two weren't completly identical, but again, there aren't two things absolutly identical in animal kingdom, even with animal very close to each others, so we can close an eye about it
What he saw surprised him: a huge creature, at least fourteen meters long, shaped like a crocodile, with a long snout, imposing limbs, a long and flat tail like that of a caiman and finally an immense sail formed by bone spines on the back. The sail was square and not very harmonious, folded in several places, but still gave a feeling of grandeur.
