But before I can act, the girl snaps her fingers. Rik moves with alarming speed, lunging at me with his blade drawn. I barely have time to dodge, the knife slicing through the air where my side had been. I stumble back, raising the rifle, but the girl is already moving.

But it was too late as an enraged Vhagar bellowed a mighty roar that caused both Meleys and Vermithor to shy away from her before she unleashed a massive stream of flames that hit Arrax straight on the body. The dragon and the boy screamed in agony. Once the flames subsided the once pearlescent white scales became blackened with ash as most began to fall off. The wings were burnt to a crisp while the boy might as well be as good as dead. But the Queen of Dragons was not satisfied as she lunged forward and crushed the dragon's body and the boy between her jaws.
