Fantasy and true crime writer. Yeah. It's a weird combo. My therapist is concerned. For my true crime, see (https://alexabaczak.medium.com/). For my fantasy, stay tuned.

writers get so nervous about going there these day. I love seeing a writer who not only goes there but goes there and burns down the whole city.
ugh that description though
?
There are a lot of interesting things I want to research in this area, but what I know now is enough to write the scene.
Historical note: I may edit this later honestly. Law enforcement in medieval times wasn't anything like it is today. Most guards were conscripted into service by their lord. This was still in the feudalistic era. So the men in Marianne's home wouldn't be particularly thrilled about being there either. They'd know her and know Neville. Especially in such a small village like Pearl. Pearl is completely fictional, but I based it around real medieval history based on archaeological and written evidence. This scene could be filled out more later.
Historical note: Trans people did exist in medieval times, although the records are scarce. One example is of a trans woman named Eleanor who was brought before a judge for sex work and forced to admit she was raised as a male child. Interestingly, the Latin pronouns always refer to her as female instead of changing once this was admitted. No form of gender reassignment surgery would have existed but there were certainly ways to present oneself as the opposite gender. I used a little bit of magic to make it easier for Robin.
Historical note: Medieval villages were extremely trade-based. Almost everyone had livestock or lived near them. Sheep were especially common because they could be used for clothes, meat, and sheep tallow could make candles. They were incredibly valuable, but easy to find and care for compared to cows or pigs. I do take a lot of historical liberties in Until Morning, but keep an eye out for my historical notes.
Historical Note: A nunnery was a word that both meant a convent AND a brothel. Telling a woman to go to a nunnery was an insult. You also see it in Hamlet when Hamlet tells Ophelia "Get thee to a nunnery."
reading the sex scene comments on webnovel is a hobby in and of itself
You almost never see the mc be a virgin. But the fc is all the time. I really like this change of pace.
I love how he's left out that she tried to kill him
To be fair, my parents would also be concerned if I ever actually managed to find peace of mind.
