I disagree. It's Riftans duty as her husband to take care and protect his wife. Maxi completely ignores her husband's wishes throughout this entire novel. She keeps pushing her husband towards insanity. I've never read such a disaster character development of a female lead in a novel in my entire life. Riftans saved her life multiple times if it weren't for him she would be dead like 5 times already. He has a right to worry, because she is just not that competent enough as a mage...

No, she had to go to the Mage tower because she followed her abusive father back to croyso castle. Made Riftan witness a horrific scene, which ultimately let to him almost losing Anatol. She went against Riftans wishes from the beginning, almost gotten herself killed multiple times yet she's persistent in wanting to join him on every campaign. Riftan keeps expressing his agony yet she do as she pleases, because otherwise she'll have to worry about him when he is gone. He had to jump off a cliff to save her life, she is not that competent. Just sayin...

He watched her almost die multiple times. I understand why he won't tell her anything, she'll just follow him everywhere against his wishes. She had to be saved multiple times during both campaigns so I understand his reluctancy. She's annoying, always wanting to know everything and follow Riftan everywhere, even if it's dangerous. It's either her way or no way...
